Replacement keyfob

-

I recently purchased a 1996 Nissan Terrano Regulus LWB 2.7 TDI auto, a top-of-the-range 4x4 imported from Australia. I am aware that the vehicle has central locking and an immobiliser, but it came with only one key, which locks the vehicle via the driver’s door.

Are you aware of any Uk/europe-based company that can supply a replacement keyfob? I intend to maintain the vehicle myself (as I have with my other vehicles for 40 years) but I am unable to find a supplier of service items, such as oil/air/cabin filters. I have been told that they differ from European-spec vehicles. Is this correct?

Also, the front fenders have chrome inserts on the outer quarters – I have managed to obtain the rear units, but cannot find any suppliers for the fronts.

Any information or hints would be gratefully received. Ken Jamieson The frequency of the remote system should be the same as a vehicle built for the UK market. This being the case, a local auto locksmith should be able to cut and programme a key to suit. This is providing, of course, that the remote system in the vehicle is operating correctly.

From the data I have, the air and oil filter should be the same specification as the UK Nissan Terrano and Ford Maverick models (R20). If the chassis number of your vehicle starts with a ‘J’ then your Nissan was built in Japan and obtaining parts should not be a problem.

I have found in the past with imported vehicles that the main dealer using the chassis number has always been able to obtain the correct parts. If you do have further problems, I would suggest an internet search on the part numbers of the filters already fitted – this should bring up a cross reference for available parts.

There are quite a few companies that specialise in Japanese vehicle parts, including the body parts you require. Take a look at http://bit.ly/1dtc6i9, http://bit.ly/1epbbi3 and http://bit.ly/1zdxjq6. Not having used any of these companies, this is only a suggestion and not a recommendation.
