FAQ
Q: How do I know which panels to soundproof and whether it will make a difference? A: Try tapping a panel with your fingers to see if noise can be transmitted. If it can, then soundproofing it will usually help. Q: Is household carpet underlay just as good as expensive soundproofing materials? A: It will certainly help to reduce noise, although not as effectively as most dedicated soundproofing material. Plus, it cannot be stuck onto panels as easily and it absorbs water. Q: Are soundproofing materials fireproof?
A: Check with the manufacturer. Dynamat, for example, meets the US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 302 – the UK equivalent is ISO3795. This test assesses the horizontal burn rate of materials used in a vehicle. Noisekiller’s foams and facings all meet BS476 class O specification.
