BROKEN ELECTRICAL CABLES

-

For the fourth fault on this 206, the driver might complain that the electric windows, central locking or door mirrors won’t work. This is a common problem with all French cars of this era, due to breakage of the wires between the A-post on the front-door mounting pillar and the door. The rubber cover will still be in place, so you won’t be able to see the broken wires and will need to slide back the cover to expose them.

Another strange thing that applies to many Citroën and Peugeot models (including the 206) is that the manufacturers made all the cables the same colour, which isn’t a problem if you only have one that is broken, but if they are all severed it can be a real headache.

When repairing the wires, always splice in a bit more cable to add length and flexibility, to help prevent the same trouble reoccurring. A word of caution: it’s possible the central locking wire can break and the system will dead-lock itself – which means you can’t open the doors to gain entry!
