I’m looking at changing my car for a more recent one, but not a new one. I like to keep things simple and want to avoid anything with an all-singing, all-dancing entertainment/ sat-nav system which cannot be replaced with a 7x2 DIN item – modern systems cost ridiculous money to replace and are often wired into other systems in the car. Do you know of any websites/databases that identify more recent cars that can be easily converted to standard DIN? Bill Parish First, I should say that modern audio systems do have many advantages. They are normally very good quality and many have controls built into the steering wheel, which helps maintain concentration on the road. On modern vehicles they also often incorporate Bluetooth and the ability to play pre-recorded tracks through a USB connection.

In-vehicle units are now normally only replaced with high-end systems as an upgrade option, not because of a unit failure. Along with the ability to fit the replacement unit into the vehicle dash, you must consider if the wiring will require an adapter loom – not all vehicles have ISO leads and thus adapters will be needed.

One website that lists all the available parts required is http://bit.ly/2b5aile. By selecting the fitting kit option on the left-hand menu, you will be able to see if a fitting kit and wiring adapter is available for your chosen vehicle.
