I am restoring a Vauxhall Astra Mk2. Could you tell me where I can get some body parts? I could do with some sills. Also, where can I get some Wellseal? J Bennett Car Body Panels 4U advertise sills for your Astra at £34.99 for a full sill. I cannot comment directly on the cheaper DPF filter supplied by your local factors, but the main difference is that the Vauxhall unit has a core of Silicon Carbide (SIC) with a melting point of 2700°C, which means it is capable of withstanding the regeneration process without problems. The cheaper units have a core of Cordierite with a melting point of 1200°C – in extreme cases, this temperature can be reached during regeneration, causing failure of the DPF. A further consideration must be that you could fit seven of the cheaper units for the same cost as the genuine part, but the decision is ultimately yours.
