Help with codes

-

I need help with the codes on my 2010 Nissan Qashqai J-10 1500 diesel with the engine type K9K. The following warning lights are illuminated: ESP OFF indicator (orange) and slip indicator (orange). Initially the lights would come on, go out when the engine restarted, then come on again a few days later, but now they are lit all the time. The following fault codes are indicated: ‘C1130 Engine 1 fuel cut system fault’ and “C1132 Engine 2 fuel cut system fault’. The car drives fine, with no apparent issues. My local mechanic has looked at it and is at a loss, so I’m hoping you can point him in the right direction. John I don’t think that your fault code interpretation is correct. According to Autodata, both ‘C1130’ and ‘C1332’ refer to ‘ABS control module – invalid data received from engine control module (ECM)’. This is borne out by the warning lights being transmission-related, not engine-related. Usually these codes are combined with another code that gives a better clue to the problem. Try scanning the engine ECU for codes – hopefully you’ll get a code starting ‘Pxxxx’. It would also be worth checking the ABS sensors and wiring. My mechanic has checked the ABS sensors and wiring, but all appears OK. At your suggestion he has checked for other codes and has found ‘P0833’ and ‘P0380’ in addition to the existing ‘C1130’ and ‘C1132’. John ‘P0833’ refers to the clutch pedal switch circuit, while ‘P0380’ is for the glow plug circuit. Both are fairly easy to check using a multimeter. For ‘P0380’, inspect the switch for supply and earthing continuity back to the ECU and check the switch for proper mechanical activation and electrical switching. For the ‘P0380’, confirm the current draw for each glow plug, the relay for correct operation, and electrical operation and continuity, as well as the fuse for the relay.

The cause of both of the codes could also be down to a faulty ECU, but this is less likely. Given that the fault appears to be centred around the drivetrain, I’d go for the ‘P0833’ as the most likely culprit.

You could also try disconnecting the ECU multiplugs and cleaning the terminals/connectors.
