02 sensor replacement

-

Sometimes things go to plan and a job goes smoothly: read off a fault code, find the dodgy part and replace it. However, very often this is not the case: the code can be difficult to decipher, the replacement part does not fix the problem and then the real diagnostic work begins.

In the case of this 2009 Vauxhall Zafira, the process went as smoothly as it could. The EML was on and the fault code suggested a failed 02 sensor, so the new part was ordered. Removing a sensor that is corroded into an ageing exhaust can sometimes present a challenge but, in this case, after a quick soak with penetrating oil the sensor came undone without a fight. The new part was fitted, the code cleared and the EML stayed out.

?? ?? After a soak with penetrating fluid, the 02 sensor was quickly removed.
