Throttle pedal problem

-

The owner described driving this 2005 Renault Trafic as being like having a cut-out switch fitted, which would just randomly switch whenever it felt like it.

Giving the vehicle a test-drive, we could see exactly what he meant. The engine would suddenly stop responding to the throttle pedal and drop down to idle speed – after a slight adjustment on the throttle pedal, off it would go again until the next time. The diagnostic reader revealed fault codes ‘DF008 Pedal potentiometer circuit track 1’ and ‘DF009 Pedal potentiometer circuit track 2’. That, coupled with the fact that our local Renault dealer had two pedal sensors in stock was enough for us to order and fit the new sensor. Held in place by a couple of 10mm nuts and fitted to the pedal with a balljoint, the new sensor was quickly fitted.

When we road-tested the vehicle again, it drove smoothly without unwanted breaks in power.
