Auto opening rear hatch

-

The rear hatch on this 2007 Skoda Roomster would occasionally just pop open when driving along. It never actually flew up, so the owner would just ignore the red warning on the dash until the next stop, then close it again. However, the fault developed, so when the hatch would no longer catch into place, the owner decided it was time to get things fixed.

The catch on the Roomster is completely electric and has no mechanical connections, while the rear trim panel is held in with clips that need to be prised off carefully to reveal the catch and electrical connector. Disconnecting the electrical plug, we discovered that the catch still would not work, eliminating the electrics, so a new part was ordered up.

Held in place by three securing bolts, the catch is easily replaced. And at under £30 for a new catch, the owner was pleased that he had finally had the job done.

?? ?? Just £30 for the all-electric tailgate catch meant it wasn’t going to break the bank.
