Thanks to the compact nature of the power unit, access around it is reasonably good, despite the large and complex array of attached auxiliary components and sensors.

We strongly advise changing the engine oil and oil filter, as well as the fuel and air filters, more frequently than officially recommended by Ford.

Check that the battery type is correct on this Fiesta – as with an increasing number of modern vehicles, especially those with stop-start systems, battery choice and condition is crucially important for the correct operation of the vehicle. An Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB) MUST be fitted, and it needs to be coded to the vehicle (see Photo 2).

While on the subject of the battery, it is important to note that if ever it is necessary to jump-start the engine, the earth (negative) jump cable from the donor vehicle or jump pack should be connected to the earth point shown in Photo 3 or to an ‘eye’ on the engine, etc, rather than directly to the battery’s negative post; this is to prevent spiking the battery. It is OK to connect the positive jump cable from the donor vehicle or jump pack directly to the positive battery post on the Fiesta.
