25 years

This issue of Car Mechanics marks my 25th anniversary with the magazine – some 300 issues.

I remember the day I was told that we were taking on the publishing of an old car title which the previous publishers were offering to us on a ‘rental’ basis. Working as a graphic designer, I was tasked with making the pages look nice, while the content was brought back into line with more mechanical features. It was a proud moment for me, as prior to leaving school I had wanted to be a mechanic, before taking a different route into publishing. Now I had the best of both worlds.

I’ve nurtured the magazine like my own child over the past quarter-century, although the mag is only older than myself by roughly seven years.
