Fuel filter change

How do you prime a new fuel filter on a Ford Kuga? Brian Lloyd Ford recommend using a special tool (part number 310-110A). This is a hand primer pump which clips between the fuel line and the filter, allowing fuel to be pumped up from the tank and filling the filter. Without using this tool, the best method is described in the May 2016 issue of CM in the S-MAX service article. This is to fill the filter with diesel by pouring it into the inlet pipe. It is a slow process, but the filter should not be fitted empty and without priming – the system will not easily self-prime, resulting in undue strain on the starter.
