My 2014 Ford Fiesta Titanium X 1.25 Ecoboost has just been serviced and the technician carrying out the service reported: “Driveshaft support bearing starting to weep grease”. As the car was only two years old and had only covered just over 10,000 miles, I was not happy with this.

Having had a look under the car and photographing the bearing myself, I could clearly see the loss of grease. I contacted Ford customer support and they agreed to replace the bearing under warranty. The servicing garage later claimed that the residue on the driveshaft bearing was, in fact, engine oil that had dripped onto it when they changed the oil filter, but it seems to me the residue is clearly grease from the bearing.

I have looked on the internet, but cannot find any record of other owners having this problem. Does anyone know if it is a common fault? Mark Dawson
