Remote key-fob

-

When I returned to my 2007 Ford C-MAX Style 1.6 petrol with 78,000 miles after about 30 minutes, it would not respond to the remote key-fob. I unlocked it with the key and a few days later fitted a new battery to the fob, but with no success. What can I do to identify or resolve the problem? Peter O’hare It is possible that the key remote system has suffered a slight malfunction. I would first try to synchronise the remote to the vehicle. To do this, sit in the vehicle and close all the doors, then fasten the front seatbelts to prevent the audible warning from sounding. Place the key in the ignition and turn the ignition switch from position l to ll four times; this must be done within six seconds.

Switch off the ignition and an audible warning should sound, indicating you are now in programming mode. Press and release any button on the remote within 10 seconds and the audible warning will again sound to acknowledge the key has been accepted.

If you have a second key, you will also have to press the button on this within 10 seconds of the audible signal. When the last key has been programmed, switch on the ignition. After a further 10 seconds, the key can be removed, the seatbelts unfastened and, after exiting the vehicle, you can test the system. If this sequence does not work, you may have a faulty key. If this is the case, an auto-locksmith will be required.
