Engine change

-

My vehicle is a 2000 Suzuki Jimny. Will the engine from the same year of vehicle with a manual gearbox fit my vehicle, which has an autobox? Are the bellhousing and spigot bearing compatible? Lenny Webster The engine block and crankshaft will be the same, but you will most likely need to remove the spigot bearing from the engine before fitting. Automatic vehicles do not require a spigot bearing and the centre locating pin on the torque convertor fits into the recess used to house the spigot bearing. You will, of course, have to remove the flywheel on the donor engine and replace it with the driveplate; you should also ensure that the driveplate does not have any cracks in before refitting it. The torque convertor mounting bolts should be torqued to 19Nm and the driveplate bolts to 55Nm.
