NOT SO SMART

Does anyone know where on our cars I can find the piece of wizard technology that will enable me to drive a broken-down vehicle to the next motorway exit or up to a mile-and-a-half to the next safe stopping bay on a ‘smart’ motorway? There must be thousands of motorists like me who don’t know where to find it, because even as a regular user of the ‘smart’ M25 from J29 to J26, I have only ever seen one car and one HGV that have made it to one of those so-called safe places. All the other breakdowns have been stranded somewhere between a few hundred yards past or before one of them. Mick Gregory
