FITTING SPOTLIGHTS

-

1Secure the mounting brackets for the spotlights to the vehicle – this may be to the front edge of the bonnet or the top of the bumper, for example. Measure and mark where the mounting brackets will be fitted and make sure you can still close the bonnet.

2Existing parts on the vehicle may need to be trimmed or modified to accommodate the spotlights – the front grille may need holes cutting into it to fit the mounting brackets and feed the wiring through.

3Once the spotlights have been fitted, route the wiring to them. Secure the wiring so that it won’t be fouled by any moving or hot components. If the spotlights are secured to the bonnet, make sure the wiring doesn’t get damaged when opening and closing it.

4Most spotlights should be operated via a relay switch and a manual switch on the dashboard. Use a fused ignition live feed to the relay switch and make sure the fuse is sufficient for the additional lighting.
