REAR BRAKE PIPES

-

We’d ordered 7 new rear flexihoses from Febi, just in case we needed to renew them, so decided to change them. With one end already detached, all we had to do was undo the end at the brake caliper with a 14mm open-ended spanner.

A new flared end 6 was made for the pipe that had been cut and remained attached to the underside of the car. Mer-tech used a handheld flaring tool that cost £42 through their local Mac Tools agent.

After fitting 8 a new Febi flexi-hose, a new length of brake pipe with flared ends and connections was loosely fitted, then bent to shape and clipped in position. Rubber sleeving from the old pipe was transferred to the new pipe to protect it from chafing against any metalwork.
