Towards the rear of the engine bay on 6 the left-hand side is the throttle body assembly. Check for damaged/insecure trunking, also for wiring/connectors that are dirty or insecure. Dismantle and clean the throttle plate/body, too (see Preparation). This charcoal canister is an essential 7 part of the Evaporative Emission control system, trapping and holding potentially damaging petrol vapour emissions from the fuel system and preventing them from venting to the atmosphere. As with most modern cars, the 8 condition of the battery and its connections is crucially important for the vehicle to function as designed. Ensure that the connectors are clean and firmly attached to the battery posts. This is the negative (earth) jump-start 9 connection point at the bulkhead. If ever the car needs to be connected to a jump pack or slave battery, use this point for the negative connection and not the negative post/connector at the battery. This is the underbonnet fusebox/ 10 electrical connection junction box. Ensure that all the connectors are clean and dry, and that the plastic lid of the assembly is refitted very carefully to prevent the future ingress of moisture and dirt. This important earth connection 11 point to the chassis is located on the left-hand side of the vehicle. Make quite sure that the electrical connection is sound, if necessary dismantling the joint, cleaning and reassembling it.
