20 DOOR CHECKS

Check all the doors can be opened from inside and outside, and that all of them can be locked from the inside and with the remote key-fob (central locking). Problems with sticking exterior handles and malfunctioning locks are a common problem on the XF and many other Jaguars.

21 FRONT & REAR LIGHTS

Check that the headlight and rear light bulbs illuminate. The headlights are secured with three 10mm bolts, accessed from under the bonnet and behind the front wheelarch trim. Pull the headlight unit forward to access the bulbs. Renewing a rear bulb requires the boot trim to be detached.

22 WHEELS & TYRES

The XF is equipped with 17-19in steel or alloy wheels. Check for kerb damage around the inner and outer rims. Inflate the tyres to the right pressure (31-34psi for under 100mph). There’s a label of recommended figures on the bottom of the nearside B-post – open the passenger door to see it. Check the tread depth on the tyres as uneven wear can suggest worn suspension components.
