BEST ADVICE?

-

In his response to a reader query (‘Advice after collision’,

Help!, October 2017), I’m surprised that Steve Rothwell didn’t say that the reader should have reported the accident to his insurance company, as in most Terms & Conditions there is a section saying that you must report “any incident which could result in a claim or not”. Plus, when a policy is renewed, you are normally asked if you have had any accidents.

The other problem is what would have happened if the other driver had no insurance? It’s a legal minefield, because if the driver did get any compensation privately and his insurance company found out, they could refuse to deal with it. The best advice would be to report it and keep his fingers crossed. Peter Richardson
