Three more questions

Q Thanks for your help previously with the throttle body problem on my 2010 Renault Scenic 3 1.6. I have three further issues: 1. The car has no coolant temperature gauge. I was reading in CM that there’s a way to get a digital temperature readout on the Astra dash which doesn’t have a gauge. Can this be done on my car? It has the standard digital dash, not the fluoro dash used in the mid-range and upwards models. 2. What’s the transmission oil capacity?

It is a six-speed manual. 3. How do I get the thick plastic mouldings off the lower part of the doors to clean behind them? Do they just pull off? Huw Roberts

A I’m of the opinion that the removal of an engine coolant temperature gauge from many vehicles is a retrograde step in dashboard design. However, unlike the Astra, I know of no secret menu that can be accessed to display the engine temperature on your Renault. Alternatively, you could purchase a Scangauge ll and plug it into the EOBD socket, which will display the engine temperature along with other information on its display.

The Scangauge ll can display up to four items of engine information, as well as having the ability to read and clear trouble codes. It is available for just over £116 from this website: https://bit.ly/2mpb1rb

In response to your second query, the transmission oil capacity is 1.9 litres and the oil should be an EP75W80.

Regarding your final question, the lower door mouldings on your vehicle should be held in place using plastic clips. Using a plastic or soft-faced wedge, you should be able to gently prise the moulding away from the door to remove it. However, you may find that the clip fails when popping off the trim and that new clips will be required to refit the trim tightly.
