Preventive maintenance

-

I have a 2008 Audi A6 S line Le Mans 2.7 TDI auto with 102,000 miles and would dearly like to keep it for another two years or so. What should I be looking to either replace or upgrade to keep it running and prevent major breakdowns, and what about preventive maintenance on major components?

The car has been serviced by an Audi dealer at 15,974, 31,833 and 47,568 miles, then by independent garages at 66,725, 82,451 and 90,621 miles. I replaced the front crankshaft pulley at 85,000 miles and it had a new inlet manifold swirl flap six months ago.

One upgrade suggested is a remap. Jimmy Parr With regular maintenance, your Audi should continue to give you good service for at least another two years. Remapping the ECU will not benefit the longevity of the engine, so unless you are looking for more power it will not be an advantage.

It is difficult to foresee some problems, but a thorough service should pick up any pending issues before they become serious. If your Audi is fitted with a sunroof, Autodata advises that these can dry out and stick, so I would ensure the runners are cleaned and lubricated to prevent future problems. When the next service is carried out, it would also be worth getting the transmission fluids changed, which should help prevent any possible issues.

I see from the MOT history that the front anti-roll bar bushes were replaced in August 2015. With this in mind, I would also check the other suspension bushes with a view to ensuring that these are not perished.
