▶ Shaun Miller has been crowned winner of the Aftermarket’s Top

Technician competition for 2018. Shaun works at Millers Garage in Newbury, which has been a Bosch Car Service garage since 2011, and won the competition by showing his top diagnostic skills in a range of tough fault-finding tasks. He was runner-up in the 2017 competition.

▶ VLS, the Verification of Lubricant Specifications, has announced the outcome of a complaint about fully-synthetic 5W30 Hypalube Evo, manufactured by Granville Oil & Chemicals. It had been alleged that the product did not meet its stated NOACK volatility measure and that its claims for OEM specifications pertaining to VW 504.00/507.00, PSA B71 2290 and GM LL– A/B–025 were unfeasible as no additive package was currently available to meet those requirements. VLS tested the product and found that it did fail to meet its claims. Granville Oil & Chemicals cooperated fully with the investigation and has discontinued the product.
