2002 Jaguar X-TYPE 2.1 V6 Sport I’ve loved these since they first came out and have been looking for a good ’un for ages. My cherry-red dream machine is a lovely example, as you’ll soon see. 2000 Land Rover Discovery Td5 Mrs C’s family bus. There’s 192,000 on the clock and, apart from the odd niggle, it’s still going strong. However, it needs a new door mirror after one was stolen.

2000 Rover 45 V6 One of the hidden gems of Rover’s later years. The V6 45 is the thinking man’s MG ZS or something like that. Wood, leather and green doorcards give it a real sense of occasion.

estate Mr C’s family bus. My S124 wagon has covered more than a quarter-of-a-million miles and has just passed its third MOT in my custody without a single advisory. Rear-facing mother-in-law seat is a star feature.

1996 Peugeot 205 1.1 One of the last off the production line. I love 205s – the more basic the better, in my book.

1995 Jaguar XJ 3.2 Sport My pride and joy. Turquoise, resprayed in 2016, and one of the nicest early X300s left on the road. It used to be my daily driver, but it’s far too nice for that now.

1991 Jaguar XJ40 3.2 I bought it recently with no MOT for £400, but it has only done 55,000 miles from new and looks set to be an exciting project. Here’s hoping it doesn’t result in financial ruin.
