Spinning shaft

-

u The owner of this 2004 Hyundai Getz had been recently splashing quite a lot of money to keep his ageing Hyundai on the road, and he was a master at finding the cheapest parts to replace the failing components.

It was, though, less than a month since he had replaced a nastily knocking driveshaft with a barging basement replacement from ebay. Yet one morning when driving off for work he discovered that after releasing the clutch the motor was going nowhere.

Asking me to have a look, I discovered the recently replaced driveshaft had broken the outer joint allowing the shaft to spin freely in its remains.

I supplied and fitted a shaft that was marginally more expensive than the unit he had purchased that would hopefully last a lot longer than one month.

?? ?? The new shaft had failed at the inner joint, spinning the boot up.
