REMOVING A DOOR CARD

Whether you need to change a door mirror, the glass or the entire door, the starting point for all of this work is to remove the door card. Look inside the base of the door’s grab handle and remove a small piece of rubber trim to see two screws – undo them.

Armed with a large flat-blade screwdriver or trim tool, unclip the bottom edge of the door card from the door. Avoid slipping with the screwdriver or trim tool and scratching the paintwork. The plastic locating plugs can break.

Once you’ve started to unclip and release the door card from the door, you should be able to prise it off with your fingers. Once released, look at the back of the door card for any wiring that’s connected to switches, such as the electric windows. Disconnect any wiring plugs so the door card can be fully removed from the car.
