DS3 RACING

-

The DS3 had plenty of showroom appeal, but buyers wanting something with more bite in the performance department didn’t have to wait long. Available in the UK from September 2010 just 200 examples of the Racing were imported, costing £23,100, and there was beefier exterior styling that boasted a number of carbon-fibre bits including a rear diffuser and wheelarch extensions.

Available in two colours, there was subtle Polar White with a Carbon Grey roof or the more extrovert Obsidian Black with Sport Orange roof, while the cabin gained sports seats clad in Alcantara and cloth. Developed by Citroën Racing it was powered by a 207bhp version of the turbocharged 1.6 THP motor which meant 0-62mph in a punchy 6.5 seconds and a 146mph maximum.

There was no shortage of shove, then, but the extensive modifications also stretched to a track widened by 30mm, uprated suspension with stiffer dampers and a 15mm reduction in ride height, and revised four-piston brake calipers. Few are for sale in the UK – but expect to pay £6000-7000.
