BUILD THE PERFECT RANGE ROVER VELAR
It’s easy to spend a lot on a Velar, but we’ve aimed for a smart set of options that improve the car without in²lating the price
The new Range Rover Velar is the talk of the town, with its sleek lines, techy interior and genuine waftability, but you can make one expensive pretty quickly. We enlisted Land Rover’s product team to help us pick wisely. We’ve started with an R°Dynamic SE with a D240 2.0-litre 4-cyl diesel pumping out 237bhp linked to an eight-speed auto. Our Velar can get to 62mph in 6.8 seconds and economy is rated at 48.7mpg. Starting price: £60,080 The Velar R°Dynamic SE comes with JLR’s Navigation Pro, a rear-view camera, keyless entry and not only Land Rover’s Terrain Response electronic mudplugging gizmos but also an adaptive dynamics system for rapid on-road driving. Inside, ebony leather is paired with black headlining. You get a 17-speaker Meridian sound system and heated, electrically adjustable front seats. Our only interior comfort option is a heated steering wheel (£190) to ease the misery of early starts in winter. Running total: £63,200 R°Dynamic SE cars come with a ²inned front bumper, a tailgate spoiler and chunky rear exhausts that complement the Velar’s creaseless lines, ²lush door handles and standard matrixLED headlights. Our Velar is ²inished in Indus Silver paint (£725) with a black contrast roof (£570) to help it stand out, and 21-inch Style 1033 alloy wheels (£1245). Top that o with rear privacy glass (£390) and you have a looker on your hands. Running total: £63,010 The On/O-Road Pack (£435) throws in the AllTerrain Progress Control, Con²igurable Dynamics and Terrain Response 2 for even more adaptability o-road. Couple that with the optional air suspension (£1140) for a better ride and ambient lighting (£205) just for the hell of it and you have a not astronomically priced Velar. Left to our own devices we could easily have topped £90k, so thank heavens for the experts… Total price: £64,980 TOTAL PRICE:£64,980
