SKODA ENYAQ iV Skoda’s first EV is going straight for the mainstream. Just shorter than a Kodiaq, the Enyaq looks like every Skoda SUV and will be priced from a little over £30k (after the grant), with 300-plus miles of range.

VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 The world hasn’t fallen in love with the ID.3, but its roomier, classier, betterriding crossover cousin should hit the spot. First version has 310-mile range and rear-drive, with many variations to follow.

NISSAN ARIYA Late ’21’s Ariya is not a swankier Leaf or an electric Qashqai – it’s on a new Nissan-Renault platform and has Nissan’s best cabin ever. Take your pick from front- or all-wheel drive, and single or twin motors.

AUDI e-TRON Q4 Not unrelated to the Enyaq and ID.4, the e-Tron Q4 skips the more modest MEB powertrains and banks on lively two-motor performance and premium finish. Expect SUV and Sportback coupe versions.
