University wins prestigious course and lecturers award
UNIVERSITY of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) has won the prestigious Course and Lecturers award at the annual Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) for the second year in a row.
With the ceremony being held online this year, it was also announced that UWTSD, which has campuses in Carmarthen and Lampeter, has won the Accommodation award which is presented to the university that gives students the best ‘home away from home’.
UWTSD also secured fourth position and a top five finish in the University of the Year category. Other notable results included a strong ninth position for Student Support and 13th for Local Life.
A spokesperson on behalf of Whatuni said: “Winning for a second year in a row, University of Wales Trinity Saint David students are engaged and inspired by the learning that takes place. Having small class sizes means students feel supported every step of the way from their lecturers.
“Climbing all the way to top, University of Wales Trinity Saint David was crowned the winner for Accommodation for the first time. Their student reviews for UWTSD’s accommodation reflected how safe the area is to live in, being located in a picturesque location which is never too far from the amenities students need.”
Dr Mirjam Plantinga, the university’s associate pro vice-chancellor for student experience, said: “We’re delighted to have won the Course and Lecturers category for the second year running as this award recognises the quality of teaching and delivery of courses and assessments. We also welcome the results in the University of the Year, Student Support and Accommodation categories. The quality of the student experience is central to our mission.”
