Law firm head promoted to owner

-

THE head of the Carmarthen office of regional law firm, JCP Solicitors, has been promoted from director to business owner director.

Carmarthen resident Richard Howells joins 13 other business owners at the firm which has nine offices across South Wales. He joined JCP as an associate solicitor in 2006 working in the commercial litigation team specialising in wills, estates, trusts and property.

He was appointed salaried partner, following which he moved closer to home to head up the firm’s Quay Street office in Carmarthen where he set up and developed the firm’s lifetime planning disputes team.

Richard is one of just a handful of legal professionals in Wales to be fully ACTAPS accredited; he is listed as an ‘Elite Leading Lawyer’ in industry bible, The Legal 500, and has previously been shortlisted for the Institute of Directors Young Director of the Year Awards.

He said: “Having spent most of my career at JCP, I am absolutely delighted to have been made a business owner at the firm. I am excited to continue to work alongside all my colleagues in Carmarthen to further JCP’s substantial track record and wellearned reputation as one of the leading law firms in Wales.”

Joining Richard in becoming a business owner is JCP’s marketing director, Amy Seppman. Amy is one of five nonlawyer directors at JCP, and now the second nonlawyer business owner alongside CEO Hayley Davies.

Amy said: “I started my career here at JCP at just 19 years old. JCP has a very long history of growing our own so it’s a great honour to complete my journey to business owner. I look forward to working with my fellow directors and colleagues as we continue to grow the firm and meet the exciting challenges of the months and years ahead.”

JCP’s CEO, Hayley

Davies, said: “I offer my warmest congratulations to Richard and Amy for their appointments which are testament to their hard work and dedication. Both of them have shown tireless dedication to the firm and a keen understanding of their respective areas of expertise. As a firm, we have always placed an emphasis on investing in organic growth of our team and both Richard and Amy’s journeys at JCP reflect this.

“Richard and Amy are playing pivotal roles in navigating the firm and supporting our clients throughout Carmarthenshire and beyond during these strange times. We know that their expertise will support our future growth and success in the region as we begin to move forward post lockdown.”
