APPLE DELAYS PRIVACY UPDATES APPLE’S

latest operating systems for all its platforms –

iOS, watchOS, tvOS, iPadOS and macOS

– are all waiting in the wings for their autumn release. But one promised feature won’t be activated at launch.

Such has been the outcry from developers over the various upgrades in the software to ensure users’ privacy is secure, Apple has revealed it won’t be enforcing its new rules until next year, to give developers time to adapt.

The main feature basically requires developers to ask permission from users to track their activity, rather than doing it under the radar as is now, remarkably, the case.

One of the companies most alarmed by the changes is Facebook, which said the new feature would ‘severely impact’ its advertising network.

Another privacy feature being delayed is the requirement of all apps to be upfront about the kind of data they collect on a special ‘privacy checklist’ page all apps will be required to display on their App Store listing. That too will come into effect in the new year.

LG GETS READY TO WING IT

SOUTH Korean electronics giant LG has invited the world’s press to an online event to showcase its latest innovations.

The video promoting the event shows what looks like a new device with a screen that swivels… and LG has confirmed a device of that nature is coming and will be called Wing.

The device is rumoured to have two front facing screens, one on top of the other – the top one can swivel to landscape orientation to create a t-shaped form.

The final design of the device will be revealed at the event on September 14.

Aside from the curious formfactor, the phone’s specs are said to include a triple-lens camera set-up with a 64MP main lens. The phone will also support 5G.
