Your views on: Covid19 testing ‘shambles’; solar farm schemes; festive events cancelled

-

THE Covid-19 testing procedure in West Wales has been described as “a shambles” – by a woman who had to drive more than an hour to get a test for her teenage son only for him to be sent away without having one. Here are some of your thoughts:

NIKKI REES I had to drive from the outskirts of Cross Hands to Aberystwyth to get a test on Tuesday morning being really unwell myself but even though I had to travel so far I have to say we all had the results back by Wednesday evening, all clear thank goodness. ROSIE MARLING They need to check temperatures too. They are running out as some are just going as they are coughing. Some are also testing too early.

SARAH ANN HENTON Rosie because people and their families are being told to isolate for 10-14 days when they just have a cough. Not everyone with Covid will have all the symptoms, some even have none. It definitely needs to be improved. Some people can’t even drive so they can’t get a test at all. More home tests need to be produced.

JASMIN DAVIES Absolutely ridiculous, really needs sorting!

WELSH ministers are to decide whether two big solar farms in Carmarthenshire which could generate electricity for more than 25,000 homes should be built. You said . . .

ALISON CLIFFORD GOODRIDGE How about we use less energy, at least waste less!

ROBERT DAVIES Build them!!! Stop messing about and get on with it, the planet can’t wait.

GARETH SCOOTER LEWIS How about starting covering house roofs, especially new builds, before wrecking more land.

CARMARTHEN’S Christmas lights switch-on has been cancelled, along with the reindeer parade and fireworks display, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Here’s what you thought about it: DAWN DAVIES You cannot cancel Christmas as people will celebrate it at home. Wish the term cancelling Christmas wouldn’t keep being used. You cannot cancel a religious event. MARIE LEA People will celebrate Christmas quietly this year, it won’t be cancelled.

HEFIN BOCO JONES Maybe now people will, at least for a year, appreciate who and what actually makes Christmas what it is and what it should be. LLANGUNNOR NEWS It’s got to be done I’m afraid because people are not following social distancing policy. Keep safe and look after yourself.

SARA KAILLA Defo a good call, people aren’t social distancing at all any more so now come the penalties.

WILLIAM BAWDEN Has to be done I’m afraid.
