Church news St Ystyffan Church, Llansteffan, has now gone through all the necessary procedures to allow the opening of the church for weddings, funerals and for limited services. We will begin with a service of Holy Communion on Sunday, September 27 and on subsequent Sundays falling on the second and fourth Sunday in the month. Next Sunday is Trinity 16 and the service will start at the usual time of 9.45am. Obviously services will be slightly different with separate entry and exits, numbers are limited and seating arrangements will fulfill social distancing requirements. Supervision will be given to assist, advise and ensure Church in Wales regulations are adhered to. We look forward to our church being reopened and the return of our members.

WI The September monthly meeting was held on the Morfa in brilliant sunshine and was a most enjoyable affair. It was an opportunity to catch up on business matters and also to socialise. President Helen Morgan was delighted to open proceedings with a toast to all those celebrating including a golden wedding, a 70th birthday, a first wedding anniversary and various other birthdays and anniversaries. Members were sad to hear of the death of Megan Hopkin Thomas, a stalwart of the County Federation over many years and a past county chair. Megan was the proud holder of the record in England and Wales for the longest serving WI adviser having fulfilled this role for 50 years. It was agreed a sympathy card should be sent to the family. With the opening of the memorial hall for meetings seemingly some way off it was decided that our November AGM be cancelled and that current officers and committee members continue in office for a further year. Officers still need to produce reports and finances will be audited as usual. A big thank you to Roger and Una for providing tables and chairs for what was a very productive and pleasant meeting.

Royal British Legion Unfortunately the selling of poppies from house to house will not be allowed this November although poppies will be on sale in commercial establishments. We await news from the headquarters of the RBL as to whether Remembrance Day Services and parades will be able to be held in their usual form.
