Town council Important message: Following the increase in virus transmissi­on, the recent unfortunat­e events and a further announceme­nt from the Welsh Government, the town council has taken the decision to close all of its buildings to the public with immediate effect until further notice. All your town

councillor­s are asking people in our community to stay safe and be responsibl­e. We are a strong community and we must look after each other as much as possible. Please be aware that the virus is still very much with us and lives continue to be at risk.

U3A In light of the above there are no plans to restart meetings until the situation changes.

Burry Port Post Office Opening hours are now 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm on Saturday. The Penny Black coffee shop is now open. Burry Port Library is now open but the way we borrow books has changed but our librarian is so helpful. Give her a call on 01554 834478 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9am to 12.30pm or 2pm to 6pm or Saturday from 9am to noon.

West Wales Veterans Archive Volunteers are needed to interview older military veterans and record their stories for inclusion in the archive which is held in the National Library of Wales. Volunteers must have served in the Armed Forces, emergency services or similar. Appropriat­e guidance and support in social history interviewi­ng and safeguardi­ng and wellbeing will be provided.travel expenses will be reimbursed. This project is is co-ordinated by Age Cymru Dyfed with a grant from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust. The garden is working with Adam yn yr Ardd (Adam in the Garden) to create a series of weekly videos that will give you advice on a wide range of topics. Contact 01558 667149 for more details.

Coronaviru­s Support Group We have two support numbers to contact if you would like a supportive chat. Rev Eldon Phillips on 07971 672985 and Angharad Lloyd (Welsh speaker) on 07930 135891. Also there is the Coronaviru­s West Wales Support Group on Facebook with Rob Evans, county councillor for Dafen. Volunteer system We have so many living alone in our community. Our volunteer system is up and running. Thank you to everyone who has contacted us to register. We need to protect our elderly and those with underlying health issues. We can help! Please, if you need help or know of anyone that does, get in touch. You will be linked with a volunteer living nearest to you. This system is working well.
