CATS & DOGS: PAWS UNITE (PG)

Preview A DECADE on from lacklustre sequel Cats & Dogs: The Revenge Of Kitty Galore, a long-running feud between canines and felines threatens to reignite in this stand-alone family-friendly caper.

Thanks to a truce, relations between cats and dogs remain cordial for the benefit of everyone, including their human owners. The fragile peace is monitored by operatives from an organisati­on called Furry Animals Rivalry Terminatio­n (Fart) using a state-of-the-art covert surveillan­ce system.

Arch villain Pablo the parrot (voiced by George Lopez) and a lizard sidekick hack into the system and old rivalries spiral out of control.

Two rookie agents, Gwen the cat (Melissa Rauch) and Roger the dog (Max Greenfield), pictured, must try to avert pet-mageddon, aided by a hand-picked team of four-legged specialist­s.

THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7 (15)

Preview DRAMATISAT­ION of true events outside the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where angry protesters make their voices heard against President Lyndon B Johnson for his policies relating to the Vietnam War.

There are ugly clashes with police and a federal grand jury indicts eight defendants: Rennie Davis (Alex Sharp), David Dellinger ( John Carroll Lynch), John Froines (Daniel Flaherty), Tom Hayden (Eddie Redmayne, pictured), Abbie Hoffman (Sacha Baron Cohen), Jerry Rubin ( Jeremy Strong), Bobby Seale (Yahya Abdul-mateen II) and Lee Weiner (Noah Robbins).

The men stand trial in September 1969 in front of Judge Julius Hoffman (Frank Langella), represente­d by attorneys William Kunstler ( Joseph GordonLevi­tt) and Leonard Weinglass (Ben Shenkman).

Seale is severed from the case in deeply upsetting circumstan­ces, allowing prosecutor­s Ramsey Clark (Michael Keaton) and Tom Foran (JC Mackenzie) to focus attention on the Chicago Seven.

■ The film is in selected cinemas from Friday and will be available on Netflix from October 16.

ETERNAL BEAUTY (15)

Preview, selected cinemas THIS romantic comedy drama stars Sally Hawkins as Jane (pictured), the middle child of three sisters, who has always cowered in the shadow of her domineerin­g mother Vivian (Penelope Wilton).

In her early 20s, Jane was left at the altar – a betrayal that coincided with her diagnosis with paranoid schizophre­nia. She takes medication to manage her condition, which offers independen­ce from Vivian, dad Dennis (Robert Pugh) and siblings Alice (Alice Lowe) and Nicola (Billie Piper). When Jane abandons her treatment plan, she feels more alive and sparks a romance with aspiring musician Mike (David Thewlis).

However, spiteful Nicola resolves to wreck the relationsh­ip and Jane’s world spins out of control.
