New year baby Ammanford Town Silver Band has congratulated Hedd-wyn Jones and his wife Cerys on the birth of a baby boy, Gwion Eurig Jones, on January 2. At four days old, his signing could be the youngest ever in brass band history, as according to his dad the new arrival already has a cracking pair of lungs! Llongyfarchiadau to you three from all at the band.

It is being run to pay the administration costs of the club. 100% of fundraising goes to good causes, ie every penny. Fifty Club members pay £48 a year (less than £1 a week), and every month have an opportunity to win £50. Kind donation Ammanford Foodbank, understandably, is very busy at the moment. So it is so nice to announce a kind donation towards the cause; the food bank is extremely grateful to Ammanford Day Centre for their kind donation of £115, which was raised in place of their Secret Santa over Christmas, as well as a sponsored beard grow! Thank you all involved for your continuing support.
Items needed Meanwhile, Ammanford Foodbank would be very grateful for your continued donations of various foodstuffs; if you are able to contribute at all, the foodbank is low on fruit juice, instant mash and tinned tuna at the time of writing. Bereavements Sadly there are a number of local bereavements to report. Sympathy is expressed to all the family, following the sudden passing just before Christmas of Carol Ann Bevan. Carol, the devoted wife and soulmate of David, passed away on December 18 at the age of 72. She will be sorely missed by family and friends alike. Condolences are also extended to the bereaved family of Edmund Marian Zarzecki, of Maes-yr-haf, Ammanford, who passed away peacefully on December 22 at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli. Edmund was the loving husband of the late Winifred Ivy, and was a dear stepfather of Robert, Steven and the late Coleen, also a much missed grandfather, great-grandfather and father-in-law. Cydymdeimlad Cydymdeimlwn â theulu’r diweddar John Alun Evans, Heol James Griffiths, Rhydaman, a bu farw yn dawel ar Ragfyr 21 yn Ysbyty Glangwili, Caerfyrddin. Roedd Alun yn wr annwyl Glenys, ac yn tad cariadus Delyth, Dats caredig Aled, Emyr a Cherry, tad-yngnghyfraith parchus Arwel, brawd ffyddlon Brynmor, Trevor, Huw, a’r diweddar William, Esra, Joy, Denver ac Owen. Bu’r angladd ar Ionawr 12, cleddwyd ym mynwent Eglwys San Mihangel, Rhydaman.
