IN THE FRAME

THE race to make the daftest looking wearable device stepped up a gear this week when JLB – makers of some fine audio products – revealed the Jbuds Frames.

These are earphones that you attach to your glasses.

Now, I imagine if you wear glasses, wearing headphones might very well be a bit uncomfortable, although there are many in-ear options that would do the trick.

The Jbuds must be aimed at those that don’t like having something wedged into their ears, as they sit just above the ear, with directional speakers that fire audio downwards for optimal listening pleasure.

JLB says those close by will not be able to hear the audio coming from these two independent bluetooth devices, but the user will be fully aware of everything that is going on around them.

The biggest plus-point is the price, though – coming in at $50 in the US (around £37), with availability in spring, the Jbuds are very competitively priced.

And the “bring-your-own-frames” option may seem a little cleverer when others bring their smart-specs to the market...

SPOTIFY’S FAMILY ALBUM

SPOTIFY’S Kids app has been a roaring success, with parents able to rest assured that when using the app their children have access only to audio that Spotify deems suitable.

Now Spotify is updating the app to allow parents even more control.

A new feature allows mum and dad to log in and share their own playlists with their kids – so you can decide what they can listen to, not Spotify.

There is also a new section that allows you to see your children’s listening history.

The idea, Spotify says, is to make the whole thing more personal – so you can share with your children the music that you grew up with and artists that are important to you.
