WELSH Water is inviting customers in Cardigan to join a virtual information event ahead of its £3.7 million investment project to improve the town’s waste water network.

The work in lower Cardigan will help reduce the risk of sewer flooding to some homes and businesses in the area, helping to protect the environment for many years to come.

As part of the project, Welsh Water will be building a new pumping station and relief overflow, as well as installing 250 meters of new waste water pipe.

Contractor partners Morgan Sindall will be carrying out the work in and around the town centre, including St Mary Street, Morgan Street and Carrier’s Lane. It is hoped this work will begin in October and take up to nine months to complete.

Welsh Water project manager, Teresa O’neill said: “This work is necessary to help alleviate sewer flooding to some properties in Cardigan.

“We appreciate that this kind of work can cause some inconvenience, but we will do all we can to keep this to a minimum and thank people in advance for bearing with us.

“I would like to assure our customers we will get everything done as quickly and as safely as we can. We would like to encourage Cardigan residents to attend our virtual information event from September 13 for two weeks to get more information on our work.”

Customers are invited to Welsh Water’s virtual public information event, which is being held jointly with Natural Resources Wales and Ceredigion Council.

The online event will showcase their plans for the area and will be running from September 13 to 26.

During this time there will be two live chat sessions, where customers will have the opportunity to ask the project team any questions they may have about the work.

These live sessions will be held on: today between 4pm and 7pm and on Tuesday, September 21, between 1pm and 3pm.
