Pembrey and Burry Port Photograph­ic Society meet this evening and every Wednesday at 7.30pm in Hermon Chapel, Pembrey. New members of all standards are always welcome. For further informatio­n ring 07974 001049. Pembrey and Burry Port Historical Society has resumed activities. Please note we now meet in the Ashburham Hotel at 7pm on the second Tuesday in the month. The next meeting is on October 12 when we have guest Carwyn Tywyn on the topic of the Welsh harp.

Singing for the Soul This has started again on the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 2pm to 4pm in Jerusalem Chapel vestry, Burry Port SA16 0DA, where there is plenty of parking. New members are very welcome. Open to men and women, no experience or commitment required. With no expectatio­ns, judgements or auditions, we offer an afternoon of singing uplifting songs in a group of like-minded people. £3 each session including refreshmen­ts. There will be Covid safety measures in place. The venue requires us to wear a face covering while singing, either a mask or visor. Clear visors will be available to buy if you don’t already have one. Garden Club The Pembrey and Burry Port club is unable to resume meetings due to extensive repairs taking place at the Community Hall, Pembrey, its regular meeting venue. The committee will meet in the new year to discuss resuming meetings.

Cefn Sidan U3A We expect to be back in the Pensioners’ Hall now. Social distancing should be observed and masks should be worn where possible. Today is the whist group in the Neptune at 2.30pm.tomorrow the Bus Pass Explorers go to Ammanford by the 9.25am bus. Monday is work on the Station Garden at 10am and yoga again at 10.30am and every Monday (except bank holidays) with Richard Rees at £3 per person per session. Please note yoga is no longer an official U3A activity, but we will continue to advertise the meetings in our monthly programmes and encourage our members to support it. Monday is the quiz group meeting, venue still to be arranged for 2.15pm. Tuesday is square dancing at 2pm. Wednesday, October 13 is the coffee morning at 10.45am. Please bring your own cup or mug and remember take it home again and respect social distancing. Monday, October 18 is yoga again at 10.30am followed by the main meeting at 2.15pm with a talk by R Walker on Marie Bramwell of Penzance. Tuesday, October 19 is the Welsh history group at 10.30am with a talk by Tim Evans on Cambrian Combine Strikes. Also Tuesday the short walk group are going from Kidwelly to Burns farm shop, Parc y Bocs, at 2pm. Thursday, October 19 the luncheon club are going to the Coal House Grill, Cross Hands, at 1pm. Friday, October 22 the cycle group meeting at 10.30am at the Blue Mussels at the harbour. Monday, October 25 is the yoga group again at 10.30am and the drama group at 2.15pm, which would welcome new members. Return of silver screen is unknown at time of going to press. Tuesday, October 26 is square dancing at 2pm. Thursday, October 23 the discussion group meet in Peter’s house at 11.10am. There is Welsh conversati­on is every Friday at 2pm.inside meetings now take place in either the the main Memorial Hall or the Pensioners’ Hall unless otherwise stated. Food Forward Food Boxes Collaborat­ing with Fairshare and Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council, Food Forward Burry Port is a Lotteryfun­ded project which will support residents in your area. The following changes are to be made for those who attend the CBSA Community Store at the senior citizens hall, Burry Port. The opening times are every Tuesday between 11am and 5pm. Do you need to stretch your food budget a little further each week? Do you know someone who is finding times hard? £1 a year for membership then each week you will have the option of spending £3.50 or £5 for goods worth between £15-£20. No referrals required. CBSA is supported by Fairshare Cymru, Morrisons and Burry Port Co-op. Call in on Tuesday to see what it’s all about. Our volunteers would love to meet you.
