BRUNO FIRES A DOUBLE IN CUP THRILLER

-

EVANS & Williams defied the wet weather to stage a magnificent fightback and knock Neath Town out of the West Wales Intermediate Cup 4-2.

Trailing to goals by Dylan Scott and Kevin Williams, the visitors were in trouble. But inspired by a couple of well-taken goals from Bruno Forkuoh, they hit back to book their place in the next round.

Also on target were Rory Johns and Mark Howells.

And joining Evans & Williams in the next stage are Loughor Rovers, who were mightily impressive in defeating visiting Cwrt Herbert Colts 9-1.

There was a hat-trick for Josh Harwood.

Four of the goals were shared between Will Picton and Callum James, and there was one each for Jordan Smyth and Gavin Godbeer.

It was the end of the road for Gorseinon

Athletic, who lost 2-1 at home to Landore. The visitors edged it with goals from Chris Smith and Dicky Davies.

All the other ties involving clubs from the Carmarthenshire League were postponed because of waterlogged grounds and have been rearranged for this Saturday.

For the first time this season the LTC Mobility Carmarthenshire League programme took a battering from the weather, and only a handful of games survived.

The only game to get the green light in division one finished 3-3 between Llandovery Town and visiting FC Carmarthen.

Going into the closing minutes it looked as if two goals by Osian Thomas would be enough to secure three points for the FC Carmarthen, but they were denied at the death by Mark Dyer, who beat the keeper with a superbly struck free-kick.

The other Llandovery goals were scored by Fen Wilson and Ryan Bailey, and it was a point they just about deserved.

West End United moved up one place into fifth in division two following a stunning 6-4 win at Pembrey. Striker Stewart Hemingway was the star of the show for West End with two goals.

Jason Harding,

James Doel and scored the others.

Lower down the league ladder, the only game to survive was the one in reserve division three at Pembrey, who edged Caerbryn 4-3 in a thriller.

A hat-trick from Owen Flowers wasn’t enough for Caerbryn, and a match-winning penalty by Billy Wilson proved the difference between the teams.

Drefach Reserves were awarded a 4-0 win against Gorseinon Athletic Reserves in reserve division one.
