Lindy knocks two minutes off personal best

-

TAF Running and Orienteering’s veteran star Lindy Eynon made a 4.30am start from her home in Narberth worthwhile when she set a new personal best, along with an age category win, at the recent JCP Solicitors Swansea Half Marathon.

Undeterred by the unusually early race start to accommodate the Swansea City v Cardiff City football game later in the day, Eynon gave it her all to slice a full two minutes off her previous best, crossing the line in 1hr 34min 25sec, which places her just outside the UK’S all-time top 20 in her age category for the distance.

In doing so she placed 183rd overall, close behind clubmate Llyr Roberts in 164th in a time of 1hr 33min 48sec.

Other TROTS finishers were: 542 Deian Phillips 1:47’27”; 676 Matthew Williams 1:51’29”; 1346 Andrew Salmon 2:11’58”.

Young Manon Phillips was the highest placed club member with a fine 12th place in the U11 girls’ race, followed by Maisie Foster in 24th.

In the U11 boys’ race, Lewis

Thomas-wigley placed 24th.

Behind these were Mair Morgan 181st, Bridget Moseley 299th, Lon Morgan 300th, Ann Rowell 302nd, Angharad Dew 308th and Pauline Thomas 313th.

Richard Phillips led the men’s team home in 210th, with Luke Evans close behind in 219th. Anthony Dew placed 401st and Mark Lee 412th.
