A multi-million-pound investment in Carmarthen signals what may become the changing face of the town centre over coming years.

Tom Sharpling It’s a good thing that Carmarthen has secured some funding from the Levelling-up Fund. I expect the money was only made available for specific offerings and this was the offering that was put forward by Carmarthen. Its value will be shown by what it offers. However, also of note is that there has been little or no money made available for the area by the Welsh Government. So this is better than nothing.

Nikki Mitchell Do something useful for a change, instead of wasting money on their next fanciful whim like this sounds. There needs to be better transportation in and out of Carmarthen, that would make a huge difference.

Linda Tame So where is Carmarthen’s town centre? Seems to me it has at least two if not three! Last time I walked from King Street to the cinema during the day there were more people outside the Italian than in any of the shopping areas. . . Fenris Wilson It could also be yet another total waste of money as the council kills off what is left of the town centre. Each time the council decides to change things and redevelop a bit more of the town it dies. Why don’t people come into town? Nowhere to park without paying through the nose. No real transport in and out. Plus you can’t force growth and development. It happens naturally, not as a force-fed vanity project.

Mark Tumble Thomas Seen a lot of these Hwbs in and around Cardiff, not convinced by them TBH, they look like white elephants in deprived areas. I’d prefer it if the money was spent redeveloping the quayside area of town, creating cultural areas with the unused buildings there and improving flood defences.
