100 years of the Royal British Legion A message from Janis Jones: “For a number of years my husband and I have been the Poppy Appeal organisers for the area. I have been asked to talk about the British Legion on November 9. I have made enquiries at the library and found that the Kidwelly Branch opened on May 1, 1932 – no further informatio­n can be found. I am looking for relatives of the first committee members. The names I have are president Dr T R Griffiths (the Mayor) of Henblas; local secretary Mr C V Williams of Brynteg; vice-president Mrs Smart of Mountain View and the local Commandant Mrs P R Squire of Kymer Villa. Flower arranging classes Very basic flower arranging classes are held on the first Tuesday and third Thursday of each month from 7pm at St Mary’s Church. Please bring your own flowers. Tea and coffee will be provided at a charge of £1 but please bring your own cup/mug. Adhering to Covid rules and regulation­s.

Kidwelly Pop-up Market Saturday, November 6, 9am-2pm. Please note the market will now be held at the Princess Gwenllian Hall for the winter period, returning to the Town Square in March 2022. Fresh produce available – artisan bread, preserves, jams, fresh veg, wood fired pizza and many more stalls. Come along and give your support to local producers. Ty-golau (Therapeuti­c Group for people with memory problems) now meets every Monday from 10.30am to noon at Canolfan John Burns Centre, Carmarthen Road, Kidwelly. Kidwelly Walking Group Meet every Thursday at 10.15am at Glan yr Afon car park (just off the Town bridge) except for the first Thursday of the month when it will be at 10.30am at Burry Port car park adjacent to the bus station over the railway bridge. We offer to two types of walks. Short walks are usually on the fringes of Kidwelly or Burry Port and are generally flat, on good surfaces and a maximum of two hours.
