DAFEN FEEL FORCE OF TITLE FANCIES

-

IT is still early days, but it looks as if Penlan Club will take some stopping in the fight for the title in the inaugural West Wales Premier division.

The Swansea Senior League giants were again mighty impressive, keeping their unbeaten record intact with a comfortable 5-1 win at Dafen.

Luke Edwards and Steve Hughes scored a couple of goals each, and there was one for Jordan Doyle.

Penlan Club are now top of the table, replacing Llanelli side Evans & Williams, who had to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw at home to Mumbles Rangers.

Striker Matthew Williams scored both the Evans & Williams goals, but the visitors hit back through Chris Allen and Jordan Lloyd-evans.

Four of the goals for Seven Sisters Onllwyn in the 5-4 win at CK Swiss Valley were shared equally between Nathan Jones and Steffan Jenkins. The visitors were also gifted an own goal.

The game between Morriston Town and visiting Giants Grave was postponed because of a waterlogged ground.

The programme in the LTC Mobility Carmarthenshire League was also badly affected by the weather, and just one game survived in the Premier division.

And just when that game looked to be heading for a draw, striker Aaron Bushrod scored the winner for Gorseinon Athletic, who beat visiting Bwlch Rangers 2-1.

A goal from Matthew Hughes wasn’t enough for Bwlch.

In the only game to be given the green light in division one, goals from Connor Morgan and Mario Amato were not enough for second-placed Camford Sports in a 4-2 defeat at Llandovery Town.

The visitors conceded an own goal and a penalty, which was put away by Chris Hyde. The impressive Fen Wilson and Scott Price also scored for Llandovery.

There was a five-star performance in division two from Caerbryn, for whom the excellent Cameron Jones grabbed a hat-trick in a 5-1 away win against West End United.

There were also goals for Lewis Rees and Iwan Easton, the only blot a red card shown to Matt Warnes.

Striker Stewart Hemingway was yet again on the scoresheet for the hosts, but on this occasion he couldn’t rescue his team.

Title-chasing Seaside made ground advantage count by edging a 3-2 win against visiting Gorseinon Athletic in reserve division one.

Seaside started the game the stronger, taking the lead in the fifth minute through a well-taken goal by Ashley Davies.

Although Yohan Mukolonga equalised eight minutes later, Seaside regained the lead thanks to Matthew

Oakley to make it 2-1 at halftime.

There was a dramatic start to the second half, and within a minute Jacob Arnold struck to level it for a second time.

But the home team weren’t to be denied, with Leon Bonifacio netting the winner in the 55th minute.

Pontlliw Reserves are also in with a shout of the title and strengthened their chances with a hard-earned 3-2 win at Drefach.

On target for Pontlliw were Dan Phillips, Liam Mccann and Jordan Gibbs.

The Drefach scorers were John Price and Andrew Waugh.

Second-placed Trostre AFC Reserves moved to within five points of leaders Loughor Rovers Reserves following an eye-catching 4-0 win at Killay thanks to goals from Jonny Thomas, Elliot Lloyd, Jordan Saunders and Ashley Lewis.

In reserve division two, goals from

Morgan Harries and Theo Benjamin helped Felinfoel to a 2-1 win at Llangennech. The home team replied through Lewis Davies.

Bottom side Kidwelly Town Reserves produced their best performance of the season in drawing 2-2 away to title hopefuls Camford Sports Reserves.

An own goal, plus one from David Thomas, for Kidwelly were cancelled out by efforts from Kyle Griffiths and Nathan Dee.

Loughor Rovers A beat Pontarddulais Town A 5-2.

Isaac Thorne netted twice, with Dave Mcewan, Kurtis Russ and Ben Martin also on target.

Drefach A eased to a 7-1 win over Burry Port A in reserve division three.

Liam Thomas bagged a hat-trick, with his first goal coming in the second minute.

Also on target were Iestyn Williams, Flynn Livingstone, Jay Fosterroberts and Morgan Rees.
