Community centre events The community centre, Glanamman, has issued an updated list of its various activities (in the main hall unless stated otherwise): Mondays: Cwmamman Crafters (11am-1pm, artroom); The Rock Project (4pm-9pm); Mud Club for adults (6pm-8pm, artroom). Tuesdays: Toddler Group (9.30am-11.30am); Access to Art (10am-11am, artroom); tai chi (noon-1pm, boardroom); Bumps to Baby Language (1pm-3pm); Art Club for kids (4.15pm-5.30pm, artroom); Cartoon Club (6.30pm-8.30pm, artroom, starts December 8); Kinetic Martial Arts (5pm-7pm). Wednesdays: Tai chi (11am-noon); Côr Meibion Dyffryn Aman (8pm-9pm). Y Pantri Gymunedol (The Community Shop) at the Community Centre, High Street, Glanamman, is now open on Fridays from noon to 3pm. For a small subscripti­on and weekly cost, members will have access to low-cost food, both store cupboard and fresh fruit and veg. Membership is open to anyone in the Cwmamman community.

Christmas wreath workshop A Christmas wreath-making workshop is being held at the Community Centre, Glanamman, on Saturday, December 4 between 10am and 1pm. Cost is £20 per person but spaces are limited; book early to avoid disappoint­ment, contact Marissa on 07776 241865.

Lights switch-on/christmas Fayre A Christmas Fayre will be held at the Community Centre on Sunday between 3pm and 6pm.the Cwmamman Christmas lights will also be switched on. Ceramic painting The popular Christmas ceramic plate-painting event is back this year at the Community Centre, Glanamman. All the family can join in the fun on Saturday from 10am to 1pm. Cost is £5 per person, contact Marissa on 07776 241865 for more informatio­n.

Home match Amman United’s second league match of the new season, their opening home fixture, is at Cwmamman Park against Trimsaran on Saturday (2.30pm).

Birthday news Our warmest birthday wishes to Mrs Veronica Jones, of Cwmamman Road, Garnant, who will be 84 years young on Friday; penblwydd hapus, Veronica. Birthday wishes to another Garnant lady, Mrs Maureen Ann Palmer, of Highfield Road, Twynm on her 89th birthday on November 27, and also to Mrs Lydia Marchelo Cordani, of Nantmaen, Garnant, whose 88th birthday is on November 29.

Wedding annniversa­ry Best wishes also to Kelvin and Maureen Neal, of Cwmamman Road, Garnant, who celebrate their 47th wedding anniversar­y on November 30.

Bereavemen­t Our deepest condolence­s are expressed to all the family following the sad but peaceful passing away of Garnant lady Mrs Linda Peartree at her home, Maesybedol, on November 8, after finally losing her long, courageous battle with illess; Linda was in her mid-80s. Thoughts are with Linda’s family at this sad time. The funeral is tomorrow at Morriston Crematoriu­m at 11am. Donations are being accepted in Linda’s memory towards Swn y Gwynt Day Hospital, Ammanford, which has helped Linda over the years.

Chief nursing award Many congratula­tions to Samantha Evans, of Stepney Road, Garnant, who has been named Chief Nursing Officer for Wales after being nominated by her colleagues. Sam works on Ward J at Morriston Hospital, having previously worked at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli. She is the daughter of very proud parents Phil and Ellen Knight, of Cowell Road, Garnant. Toybox appeal Garnant Family Centre is taking part in Carmarthen­shire Council’s Christmas Toybox Appeal. Lots of families are struggling presently due to rising costs and the impact of the pandemic,whether they are working or not. Players’ reunion Amman United Rugby Club are hosting a players’ reunion on Saturday for the unbeaten Clwb yr Aman teams of 1971-72 and 1991-92 seasons; the event commences at the clubhouse from around 7pm.
