Christmas Eve arrangements Although the Memorial Hall cannot safely be used for the annual carol singing and community get-together this year, those who would like to can come along to the Square on Christmas Eve for the presentation to the best decorated house prize winners at 6pm.

This will be followed by an informal half hour or so of carol singing and this leads on to the church service in St Ystyffan’s at 7.15pm. An opportunity to meet friends and neighbours in a safe manner and get into the Christmas spirit.

Church service This Sunday, December 12, a service of Holy Eucharist Communion will be held at 9.45am. A warm welcome to all.

Sports meeting A well-attended meeting learned of the reason for non-appearance of the grounds working group and although on a priority list it was agreed a group of willing hands should paint the new shed before the worst of the weather arrives. Understandably, the community carol singing cannot take place in the Memorial Hall on Christmas Eve but there will be an opportunity to sing at 6.30pm on the Square following the presentation of prizes to the best decorated properties. Carol sheets will be available but please bring a torch. Trustees listened with interest to the proposal put forward by Mark Clements for upgrading the cricket and football pitches. The initial costs of the study will be shared by the cricket, football and sports clubs. Following a discussion and a series of questions and answers there was a majority vote in favour of proceeding with the study. Treasurer Rhian Williams presented the up-to-date accounts and commented on the saving of £200 as a result of paying insurances in one payment. Membership of the gym is coming in and helping boost finances. Rhys Emlyn is planning a publicity drive about the gym on Facebook with procedures working well at present. Alun Howells continues to apply for funding but without success so far. After many years as a committee member Mair Evans announced that she will be standing down at the next AGM and was thanked for her dedication over the decades.

Christmas craft fayre This event was very well supported and the wonderful array of items on various stalls was proof of the skills and talent we are fortunate to have locally. Organised by Ann Iorwerth and Anthea Evans, the Hall looked festive and welcoming. Many thanks to all who supported the event which was a fundraiser for the Memorial Hall. If you were not able to get to the Hall at the weekend please pay a visit to the Pound Gallery where more festive items are available to purchase.
