LLANGENNECH cemented their position at the top of One West with a 30-10 bonus-point win over Crymych.

Andrew Thomas, Jordan Saunders and Kalum Evans scored Llangennech’s tries, while they were also awarded a penalty try.

Thomas’s try was the pick of the bunch as he ghosted his way past four defenders with some good footwork to score. Osian Evans kicked eight points and Llangennech’s Liam Tobias was sent off.

Crymych were competitive throughout and scored two tries through Ilan Phillips and Tomos Lewis.

In the Championship, Narberth secured a solid 20-16 win over Ystalyfera.

Amman United claimed their first Three West B victory of the season with a hard-fought 30-12 success at Penygroes.

The visitors drew first blood when a well-worked move saw centre Steff Davies score under the posts, fly-half Tom Caddell converting.

Amman had a strong wind at their backs and with lock Jason Knell making some good yardage, they shaded the territory.

Try-scorer Davies limped off, replaced by Liam Poole, and a long-range Caddell penalty gave the Reds a 10-0 interval lead.

Caddell stretched the lead after the restart to 13-0, but when impressive home prop Ben Jackson was tackled short, lock Dan Rees went over. Fullback Nicholas Morris converted.

Caddell kicked another penalty, and in the final quarter the visitors brought on their very own ‘bomb squad’ as Rhys Phillips, Harley Davies and Rhydian Jones entered the fray with great effect.

Full-back Joel Foster’s excellent work put a try on a plate for back-row man Jac Isaac, and scrum-half Alex Williams gleefully dived over for a third Amman try.

The home side were rewarded with a late try by Rhys Gealey.

On Saturday Amman entertain New Dock Stars.

Cwmgors suffered their first Three West Central A defeat of the season when they went down 29-7 at Baglan.

Baglan turned pressure into points with a penalty and used the wind to pin Gors back. They extended their lead with two tries, one converted.

Gors were beginning to have more ball and this resulted in a maul being driven over following a line-out, with Ben Curtis Jones scoring.

With half-time approaching, Cwmgors twice went close to scoring, but from a goal-line drop-out Baglan kicked the ball deep into Cwmgors’s half, won possession and scored a converted try to leave Gors 22-5 down at the break.

The only score of the second half was a converted Baglan try.

Cwmgors are home to Vardre on Saturday.
