George wins 10k event
THERE were more than 100 entries as Taf Running and Orienteering staged the Dambuster Multi-terrain 10k at Llys-y-fran Reservoir for the first time in five years.
This popular event suffered firstly due to the closure of the venue due to refurbishment, followed by two years of lockdown restrictions. But it looks set to become a regular fixture in the race calendar again.
The race was won in convincing style by Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club’s Ollie George, who finished a full four minutes ahead of the rest of the field.
First over the line from the host club was Carmarthen postman Vincent Bailey in 13th. He was also runner-up in the M50 category.
Two places behind him was F55 winner Mel Holliday, followed by Kayleigh Bagshaw in 18th, and third in the Open Female category.
Emma Jones finished 22nd to win the F45 category.

Nine TROTS took part in the Preseli Beast Marathon and Beast Bach Half Marathon at Rosebush.
Joanne Bowes and Deian Phillips raced the longer event, with Bowes finishing third in the F50 category.
In the half marathon, the club’s only gold medal of the day went to Lon Morgan in the F60 category, while Emma Jones won silver in the F50 category.
Luke Evans was the first TROTS runner to finish in 15th.
